Workshop Breakdown (2 Hours)

1. Introduction to Pressed Flower Art (15 min)

• Brief history & significance of flora preservation
• Overview of the creative possibilities with pressed flowers

2. Hands-On: How to Press Flowers (1hr 30min)

• Selecting the right flowers for pressing, as a Beginner
• Techniques: Traditional pressing vs. modern methods
• Preparing flowers for long-lasting preservation
• Flower Press Usage: Participants will use a flower press to press the flowers (Flower press to be returned at the end of the session)

3. QnA (15 min)

BASIC FLOWER PRESSING WORKSHOP

Learn the fundamentals of flower pressing and discover how to preserve the beauty of flowers beyond their fleeting bloom.

• Learn how to press three flowers commonly used in floral preservation — rose, carnation, and daisy.

• Understand the basic flower pressing process, from preparation and pressing to drying and storage.

• Learn different pressing approaches for various flower types, as well as the materials and tools used for successful flower pressing.

• Discover how colours, textures, and flower varieties change throughout the pressing process, and learn how to achieve the best possible results.

• Learn how to prevent mould, browning, and other common flower pressing mistakes, especially in Singapore's humid climate.

• Gain practical knowledge on how to store and care for your pressed flowers so they can be enjoyed for months and years to come.

• Build a strong foundation in flower pressing techniques that can be applied to future pressed flower art and preservation projects.

Each participant will bring home:

• A handmade Pressed Flower Greeting Card (worth $18)

• Flowers prepared and pressed during the workshop. Participants may opt for self-collection once the pressed flowers are ready, or top up $15 for delivery. This will be decided during the workshop session.
